When washing hands dampen hands first, add soap and then after several seconds of lathering turn on the tap. This saves water and will get hands just as clean. This applies to tooth brushing too. The water doesn't need to be on until you are ready to rinse. Just another little way to save. It is also very important to check all faucets for leaks and have them corrected. Teach the children to conserve and make it a fun game for them. This will teach them about our precious resources and will make them mindful of our civic responsibilities.
There are many other ways to conserve...plastic shrink film for windows that let in cold air: plugs to put in power receptacles, where cold air lives and breathes; insulated draperies for nurseries and bedrooms; use indoor racks for drying clothes, and unplug electrical appliances when not in use...they can steal energy even when not turned on.
